H.R. 2749 = Totalitarian Food Control & Food Police:
www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd

During the 2nd vote in two days, the House rules were suspended (to eliminate debate) on 7/30/09 & this bill passed the House. I haven't found the Senate version yet, nor when the Senate will vote on this. The Senate met today.

This extremely nefarious bill will outlaw all natural & organic farming practices, including backyard gardens, unless the farmer can pay $100,000 - $500,000/day in civil penalties &/or spend 10-yrs in prison. It allows the gov't to control all farming operations, including confiscating farmer's land, mandating what crops farmers can plant, what seeds they use, what pesticides they must spray, what livestock is fed, injected with, how they're cared for/maintained, along with high fees to license & track individual livestock animals. All this will be enforced under the martial law enacted by this bill, under what I'm terming the "Food Police".

This will homogenize our food supply, leaving us only with GMOs, processed food, & toxic chemicals - junk food with no real nutritional value. They've also been treating meat (really old meat) with Carbon Monoxide to maintain the pink color we associate with "freshness".

Unders similar bills being pushed through Congress, our rights to all natural & herbal remedies, natural healing modalities, etc. are being stripped, as well, in a takeover of the natural health industry by the major pharmaceutical companies. Look up CODEX Almentarius, for more info. They're eliminating all means of enhancing our immune systems naturally in preparation for the WHO takeover of the world, under their own created "pandemics". Vaccines for H1N1 have been ordered for all 194 WHO signatory countries (including the US) & Baxter is set to deliver billions of vaccines next month (September 2009).

Please help me get the word out & if you know anyone in high places with ties to the natural health industries, let them know. I wonder if Whole Foods is aware of this?

Quinoa Sprouts
Tomatoes
Pine Nuts
Garlic
Olive Oil
Sea Salt

So I took my sprouts, made a little bed of them, then placed some sliced tomatoes on top, threw in some pine nuts, drizzled olive oil over it, crushed fresh garlic, and sea salt on top. Mixed it together, and that was it. It was awesome. If you don't like to use oils, it would still be good. I think this would be doubly fantastic as an Avocado stuffing, I just haven't didn't have any on hand.

Improper "Big Pharma" Influence in Medicine is VERIFIED!

This is a BIG step in the right direction for health care in the USA! It has been no secret, but no one was talking about it since the monetary benefits that many doctors are receiving from these companies made this unlikely. I mean - if you were the type to only care about money (which is why many become doctors in the first place), wouldn't you want a free trip to Cancun by putting other people on basically unproven and even harmful chemical substances?

Catherine D. De Angelis, MD, MPH and Phil B. Fontanarosa, MD, MBA have submitted this timely (and likely unwelcome) article into the April 16, 2008 edition of the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), entitled "Impugning the Integrity of Medical Science - the Adverse Effects of Industry Influence."

What is even more awesome is that this was broadcast on the same day on the morning edition of Talk Radio's "Paul Harvey" show, so this information has come to the attention of many Americans today!

I am happy to see that some doctors do in fact have some integrity. This may also be an opening for safer alternative methods to be approved by the AMA for doctors to use and not feel like they will have their medical licensing taken away if they recommend a proven herbal remedy (as an example) instead of the new designer drugs of the day. I hope this allows them the courage to step forward now that the door has been opened!

We can help by showing this to our medical providers (if you have those) this article, and telling them about this, they can maybe take additional steps as doctors to become more able to practice alternative and natural techniques without risking their careers. Also, tell your friends in any way you can, so that they can demand alternative therapies be implemented or they will go elsewhere now that this article ought to free up other practitioners to use these methods. This also provides some validation for Alternative practitioners who have known about these dangers all along. Health care freedom (and responsibility) is up to all of us - please spread the message!

Ok, for years I've ripped on vegans, raw foodists, etc. I love a good steak and I'm not going into raw foods for any reasons having to do with any kind of morality. I've shunned the whole idea of raw foods for a long time.
For some reason I started looking into it. I stumbled into a video on youtube which was a trailer for an upcoming movie called Raw For 30 Days.
Well, my family has a history of diabetes and heart disease. I am 250lbs when I should be 165. I have a very low libido since I've gained weight, and I used to be skinny, hot and, um "active". Now, I'm very sedentary. I have bad circulation and my feet and calves are often puffy and shiny. Not good.

So, I'm looking for advice about transitioning into raw foods because I know if I just go all out right away I'll give up. I want to make a permanent change, not have another "diet". Any help or directions to good resources would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to find out exactly what I can and can't eat and would like to find a way to do this without having to do a lot of weighing, counting, measuring, etc. Is there a low maintenance way to do this? I figured the name of this tribe would apply, since I can be a rather lazy bastard.

I also wanna look good for my first Burning Man this year!

My husband and I are transitioning to raw. We're a little overwhelmed, and the grocery shopping has been a source of anxiety! It just seems like it would be so easy to buy too much food that we wouldn't use! We also don't have the money to go all out for a juicer, blender, food processor and dehydrator right now, so we started with a food processor. We also bought a cookbook (_The Raw Gourmet_) for some inspiration. But what I'd really like is a basic, down-to-earth shopping list for staples. I'm thinking smoothies, chopped salads, lettuce wraps might be the way to go. Any suggestions for starting without feeling overwhelmed?

Has anyone seen the trailer for "Raw For 30 Days"? It's a documentary about six people, who normally eat fast food, who decide to go 100% raw for a month. It features interviews with doctors, experts, and raw foodists including Gabriel Cousens, David Wolfe, and Woody Harrelson.

I am new to raw foods and very interested in hearing from others who are raw foodists and people who are trying to change their lives for the better. Many people in my family have diabetes and I have changed my diet and gone raw to prevent myself from also getting diabetes.

The trailer on Youtube at:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSuqCMld00w

There is also a new two-disc DVD set that is available for order called RAW FOR LIFE, which is a encyclopedia of Raw Food, perfect for beginners like me and Raw Food enthusiasts. I have found it to be very helpful, as I have been transitioning to raw foods. It’s about how to live raw, the Raw Food philosophy, why to eat a raw food diet, important medical facts and nutritional information. It’s a very practical guide to becoming raw and staying raw.
Yikes! I'd never read that in any of the books I have. It does make sense, though. I even read that 90% of humans have them and don't know it. (see humaworm.com)

Do you all take any particular pains to clean your foods before eating them? If so, how, and what do you use? I used to use 1/2 tsp of Clorox to about a gallon of water. I'd soak my fruits and veggies for 15 min, then change the water and soak them again in plain water. It kept them much fresher for much longer. I'm sure that would kill some parasites, too. But I've heard so much about how bad chlorine is to even smell. So I quit doing it. Plus, it wasn't for a lazy person. It took quite a bit of effort.

Do any of you know whether you got parasites and if so, did you successfully rid yourself of them and continue on with your raw diet?

Hello, fellow raw fooders,

This is an urgent message needing your immediate attention by April 30.

For me, sprouted raw almonds are a major part of my diet, so this is alarming.

The Almond Board of California has recently passed a regulation that will require ALL almonds produced in the state of California (which is effectively all almonds available in the US and Canada) to be PASTEURIZED.

This is because there were two salmonella outbreaks traced to almonds in 2001 and 2004, and they had to come up with an "action plan."

Incredibly, they will allow pasteurized almonds to be labeled as raw, which is a lie, and should be considered fraudulent.

As you know, almonds have a high oil content, so roasting, toasting, or pasteurizing them creates toxic trans-fatty acids. Of course, it also kills the enzymes and damages other nutrients.

This legislation is to go into effect in August or September of 2007, for the 2007 - 2008 almond crop. Deadline for the final phase of public comment is April 30, so there is still time for a consumer uproar, and that is the only thing that will stop it.

For more details, go here: http://www.newstarget.com/021776.html

To sign a petition, go here:
http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/mandatory-almond-pasteurization-is-wrong.html

To write directly to the California Almond board, go here:
http://www.almondboard.com/utilities/FORMContactUs.cfm
Their phone number is (209) 549-8262.

If you can take a moment to write them, our best strategy will be to request two things:
1) Truly raw organic almonds be available for sale, clearly labeled as "unpasteurized." (They may want to require a warning label stating that salmonella or other bacteria may be present.)
2) All pasteurized almonds be labeled as such, to allow consumers to make informed decisions about what they are ingesting.

You can also write to the California Certified Organic Farmers association, which has the power to contest this. Please write to Peggy Miars, Executive Director: peggy@ccof.org. Ask her to mobilize and protest.

To see the rules directly from the Almond Board of California (.pdf files), go here:

Blessings to all of you,

I've been inspired by a lot of things I've read about raw food diets, and the way of life really appeals to me. I am considering going raw myself, probably not 100%, but maybe 80-90%. Especially at the beginning. Is there some kind of reference site for going raw, or a great 'getting started' book I could check out that will help me incorporate raw foods into my diet? I'm not sure exactly what the guidlines are for a food to be raw(yes, I know, not cooked, but what's with tea? That's a heated substance, if you get what I mean). Is there a place to go to see what kinds of foods are a no go? Can you eat any kind of breads or crackers? I'm constantly active, so I need carbs...
I would appreciate anyone's help!!

Proportions are pretty approximate, but here it is:

a cup or more of raw tahini
3 carrots
1/4 of a med. size red onion
a handful of kale
1 or 2 cloves of garlic
small piece of fresh ginger (or dried if it is all you have)
a tablespoon or 2 of apple cider vinegar--raw
tablespoon or 2 of braggs or tamari/soy sauce
just a bit of black pepper
salt if needed

blend until very fine, thicken with more tahini if needed.

any other vegis coule be used too.

eat with dehydrated crackers, on pieces of romaine lettuce or other vegis or any other way you want. YUM

I'm talking about not only restaurants, but stores, delis, markets, wholesalers, etc. I've been to Cafe Gratitude and was impressed, but I'm sure the bay area has more to choose from. I would be glad for any input, thanks!

I'm thinking of tossing a couple of tomato plants in pots on my porch, but I was trying to think of something else that wouldn't take up too much space or need alot of attention.... maybe a pot with a couple different kids of lettuce in it? Hmmm.... I'm open to suggestion!

I don't want to start her on baby buscuits or cereal, my mom started us on veggies and such and then she never had trouble getting us to eat our veggies(until we got older). It was just what ate, ya know? How did you transition your diets? What helped you feel less stressed about it and make it go more smoothly? Thanks, Hilary

But I did the raw garbanzo hummus for several months, but frankly I--my appetite got icked out by it, solely because no matter what different ingredients I figured into and played with, it wasn't always YUMMY to me.

So, I am asking from any of you folks for ingredients other than or in comination with these listed below to for a hummus that is of a kind you would like to slurp anytime cause it is so yummy ;-D

Maybe it just can't get much tastier (to me) with raw sprouted garbanzos? Am looking forward to other ingredients than garbanzos, too?

Again, I came up with a good recipe which some of you may want to try or find yummy, which I often topped off with a bruschetta, but, again, over time for me short of YUMMY!

garbanzos sprouted
cilantro
parsley
extra virgin olive oil
maybe a little water
tamari sometimes
lemon juice
lime juice
walnuts
almonds
garlic
ground black pepper
tahini
black olives chopped and stirred in
green olives " "

We are pretty much the only people on campus and it's not possible to leave for lunch so we bring food. The first Saturday they watched me eat - I brought extra in case any of them forgot lunch, a couple of them took me up on my offer. This week I made a gallon of fruit salad to take with me - it was gone in under five minutes while the cold pizza one of the girls brought sat untouched. They were asking me, "what's this?" because half of them had never seen a blueberry before. I was amazed enough that I'm planning on bringing fruit salad next week too ;-)

Location: Toronto and the GTA

Hi Everyone,

I’m selling my Hippocrates Green Power Juicer and 5-tray Dehydrator.

I bought the juicer 2 years ago and it has been used at most 7 times. I kept it in excellent condition. There is minimal stain due to pressing carrots. I have all the parts, instructions and even the original box it came in. I’ve decided to sell it because I travel a lot and I don’t use it as much as I had hoped.

I bought the dehydrator about 2 ½ years ago. This is also in good condition. I used it frequently. I have the simple model of the Excalibur dehydrator. There are no teflex sheets included and there is no timer attached, just the temperature control. The reason I’m selling it is that I was given a 9-tray dehydrator as a gift. I don’t need two dehydrators now.

If you are in the Toronto or GTA area and are interested in purchasing either or both of these items, please email me at raw_vida@yahoo.ca or through this tribe.

Many people are now convinced—Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV), that wonderful “old-timers” home remedy, cures more ailments than any other folk remedy and has been highly regarded throughout history. In 400 B.C. the great Hippocrates, Father of Medicine, used it for its amazing health qualities.

The reported cures from drinking Apple Cider Vinegar are numerous and include: allergies (including pet, food and environmental), sinus infections, acne, high cholesterol, flu, chronic fatigue, Candida, acid reflux, sore throats, contact dermatitis, arthritis, gout, and even heart pain. Apple Cider Vinegar breaks down fat and is widely used to lose weight. It has also been reported that a daily dose of apple cider vinegar in water has soaring blood pressure under control in two weeks!

For centuries, the benefits from cider vinegar to fight infection, promote digestion, fighting osteoporosis, have been well known. One of the first goals on the way to great health is to restore the body's pH to the alkaline range. As nearly all chronic illnesses take place in a body that has become acidic due to the gradual depletion of its mineral reserves, it is logical to check on the body's acid/alkaline balance and to work towards maintaining it in the alkaline range. The state of the body's acid/alkaline balance can be easily measured by testing the urine using pH strips.

INTERNAL BENEFITS:
.	Rich in enzymes & potassium
.	Naturally supports a healthy immune system
.	Helps control weight
.	Helps soothe dry throat
.	Promotes healthy digestion & pH balance
.	Helps remove body sludge & toxins

ACV is also a natural antibiotic germ fighter, fights E. coli and other bacteria. It is an excellent remedy for food poisoning and helpful in digestive upsets. ACV helps control and normalize weight and improve digestion. ACV helps relieve arthritis stiffness and rheumatism.

Use two teaspoons (2 t.) in a pint of water daily for yourself—or one teaspoon in the dog or cat’s drinking water—as a healthy tonic. Drink a daily tonic of apple cider vinegar to help you keep the right pH balance in the urinary tract, since the proper acidity creates an inhospitable environment for bacteria and yeasts that cause these infections.

EXTERNAL BENEFITS:
.	Helps maintain healthy skin
.	Helps promote a youthful, healthy body
.	Soothes irritated skin
.	Relieves muscle pain from exercise

ACV helps to maintain healthy skin, promote youthful, healthy bodies. Soothes pain of sunburn, the itch from bug bites, and the sting from plants. ACV helps prevent dandruff, itching scalp, baldness, and dry skin. ACV soothes tight aching joints, sore muscles. Apple cider vinegar also removes sebum and environmental and product buildup on the hair shaft.

COMBINE WITH NATURAL BEE HONEY TO:
.	Relax the nervous system
.	Promote deep sleep
.	Relieve rheumatism
.	Relieve arthritis
.	Relieve bone and muscle pain and soreness
.	Relieve heart ailments
.	Relieve stress
.	Relieve insomnia

Mix organic apple cider with pure raw honey and drink at night before going to bed. Great for calming nerves, promoting relaxation and relief of bone related ailments. Adjust the amount of vinegar and honey for comfort and taste. See my recommended recipe here:

RECIPE:
250 mL (8 oz) Purified Water (warm enough to melt honey)
1 to 2 teaspoons Raw Apple Cider Vinegar (Organic recommended)
1 to 2 teaspoons Honey (Local, raw, non-GMO recommended)

(Honey comes from flowers and has a very light energy. I recommend honey from flowers that are known to provide support for heart and lungs. Use local honey to help provide relief from allergies and build immunity.)

Apple Cider Vinegar is proving very beneficial to people and animals with arthritis because it breaks down calcium deposits in the joints while re-mineralizing the bones. It has shown to be equally beneficial to dogs with hip dysplasia. ACV is also effective for urinary tract infections, and it lowers high blood pressure. In animals, it is helpful in skin and coat problems and in replacing potassium depletion. (Cranberry juice is also a well-known home remedy for urinary tract infections. It prevents bacteria from attaching to the walls of the urinary tract.)

A new University of California-Davis Medical Center study shows that daily consumption of 12 ounces of apple cider or apple juice can reduce the risk of heart disease. And the benefits don’t stop there. A recent Cornell University study found that the antioxidants in apples also inhibit the growth of certain types of cancer cells.

ACV has been found to protect arteries from harmful buildup of plaque. Many heart attacks are caused by high amounts of fats and cholesterol in your blood. The fiber in ACV helps to absorb fats and cholesterol by expelling them from the body as waste materials.

ACV is used to promote the health of veins and capillaries; it is also useful in assisting in the health of the heart. The potassium found in apple cider vinegar is also beneficial to the heart.

The dietary fiber in ACV is beneficial in controlling glucose levels in the blood. Minerals like manganese, calcium, magnesium, silicon and iron develop bone mass and make them stronger. It is also a rich source of amino acids, vitamins and minerals.

ACV boosts the immune system and acts as a natural antiseptic and anti-biotic. Apples contain Vitamin C and flavonoids, which helps with wound healing and in reducing the severity of colds and flu symptoms. Apple cider also has acetic acid, plus ion-futynic lactic and propionic acids. It is the richest source of amino acids known.

Apple cider cannot cure cancer, but it is valuable to have around to help fight free radicals in the body. Beta-carotene, found in apple cider vinegar, is a powerful antioxidant, which helps to neutralize the free radicals formed in the body through oxidation. To prevent these free radicals, and to keep them in check, we need antioxidants to rid our body of these potentially dangerous compounds. Left alone, free radicals have the run of our bodies; they damage cells, which leads to cellular degeneration. The pectin in apple cider vinegar adds fiber to the diet, which helps prevent cancer, especially colon cancer. Fiber binds with certain cancer-causing compounds in the colon, and speeds up their elimination from the system.

VITAMINS IN APPLE CIDER VINEGAR:
.	Vitamin C
.	Vitamin E
.	Vitamin A
.	Vitamin B1
.	Vitamin B2
.	Vitamin B6
.	Pro-vitamin beta-carotene
.	Vitamin P

MINERALS & TRACE ELEMENTS IN APPLE CIDER VINEGAR:
.	Potassium
.	Magnesium
.	Phosphorous
.	Chlorine
.	Sodium
.	Sulfur (the mineral - not the sulfa, which some people are allergic to)
.	Silicon
.	Fluorine

BENEFITS FOR YOUR DOGS (AND OTHER PETS):
Every home with dogs should have Apple Cider Vinegar. It has multiple uses for dogs, including: alleviating allergies and arthritis, and establishing correct pH balance of the system.

Added to your pet's drinking water, ACV has shown to maintain the acid/alkaline balance of the digestive tract. To find your dog's pH level, get some pH strips at your local drugstore. First thing in the morning test your dog's urine. If the strip reads from 6.5 - 7.0, then your dog's system is what it should be. If the pH is higher, then the system is too alkaline, and ACV can help to establish a correct pH balance.

Use a few drops in your dog's ears after cleaning to avoid ear infections. ACV can be used in the prevention of muscle weakness, arthritis, calluses on elbows, hocks and joints, pimples, and sore joints. It has also been shown to be useful in the prevention of bladder and kidney stones, and bladder and kidney infections.

A dog with a correct pH balance is less likely to be bothered by fleas, black flies, ticks, and other external parasites. Its regular use results in less chance of ringworm, staph infections, streptococcus, and mange. If you are already experiencing these problems, dilute ACV with equal amounts of warm water and sponge onto your dog's coat.

You can also mix a 50/50 vinegar-water solution and add to a spray bottle to spray the coat. The ACV balances the pH of the skin and makes it less desirable to bacteria, bugs and infection. Not only that, but their coat is very soft and shiny. Applying undiluted apple cider vinegar to the affected area can soothe bee and wasp stings, as well as itchy mosquito bites.

MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION:
I have personally used and highly recommend Bragg® Certified Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar. It is unfiltered, unheated, unpasteurized, has 5% acidity, and contains the amazing Mother of Vinegar, which occurs naturally as strand-like enzymes of connected protein molecules.

Bragg® Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar is made from delicious, healthy, organically grown apples. Processed and bottled in accordance with USDA guidelines, it is Certified Organic by Organic Certifiers and Oregon Tilth; and is Kosher Certified.

Bragg® Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar is full of zesty natural goodness. It is a wholesome way to add delicious flavor to salads, veggies, most foods, and even to sprinkle over popcorn.

Bragg® Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar has a pH of 4.075, Concentration/ Strength = 63 grain, Acetic Acid = 5.14 %, Potassium = 24mg/T. <2% DRV / RDI.

Many blessings,
I tried to use my blender the other night for some chopping it just wasn't cutting it, ha ha, so to speak then I saw they had the Magic Bullet I had seen on t.v. at a store nearby for about 1/3 the price, of course you don't get the Second one free deal but still.....

it's amazing and quick just as reported on their Infomercial. I'm not sure about the microwaving but for raw foods and mixing drinks, etc. it works - I'm sure it works fine in the Microwave as well if one wanted to do so as they show it on their ad as well.

So any fellow Magic Bullet fans out there?

Just thought I'd pass that along.
