Does anyone have the "Raw In 10 Minutes"? It looks like a good one and I can always use recipes that are fast and easy. Hard to imagine everything in that book is really a 10 minute preparation. Please tell me which books are your favorites. Thanks!

    Hope this sticks!
"Raw in Ten Minutes" ain't bad, but he relies heavily on fancy miso. Not a bad book, all in all.
    My current faves are:
Alive in Five (five minutes is a bit of a misnomer, but most of the recipes are really easy, with "normal" ingredients)
    Rawsome
    Living in the Raw
    Naked Chocolate
Kitchen Garden Cookbook (By the Sproutman, not all raw, but good stuff)

    Rawsome
Raw food real word- Matthew Kinney
    2 fabulous books.
Can't handle Raw In 10 minutes' author spamming on raw message boards and sites- and saw lots of not so great reviews of the book. Really, is it worth having? Anything new in there?

After rereading it many times, I decided that no, raw in ten min is not really worth having. As I said, too much miso and the names for recipies and the foods just don't match up. Chili reninos(I cannot spell) on kale leaves? What? But the darn cheeze in a pablano or anahiem chilli ya fool! :)
I actually made up a relino recipe that was pretty god. Note to self-those tiny little chilis are HOT! One is plenty for a sauce batch, not two. Nearly burned my face off!!!!
New good recipe book is Ani's Raw Food Kitchen by Ani Phyo. I like the pantry lists and her stuff uses normal ingredients.
Beware:everyone and their cousin has a raw book out right now! So hard to choose and most have really similar stuff. I borrowed about 10 from my mom (some women are compulsive shoe buyers, she buys cookbooks) and got overwhelmed by all the ideas. Best to work one book at a time. Then you can just make things up after you have the basics.

The first raw cookbook I got was Raw Food Real World...I got a bit overwhelmed and walked away for a while.
I'm trying again, startin' off a little less gourmet.
I saw Ani's book at B&Noble, (could easily lose an afternoon lost there), it looked good.
I got some others, will get back to ya' when I use them a bit more.

Awesome book (lotta funny typos) . The famous onion bread is great and makes a darn good tomato sandwhich. The apple cookie recipe is worth the admission price alone and it seems interchangeable with other fruits. I'm going to try out the zuchini hummus recipe this week as well as making another batch of the cookies and onion bread . The pictures are beautiful and drool worthy.
"The Raw Truth" I would have to consider essential , it has hundreds of recipes from many famous names in the raw food community and lots of beginners info and basic how to stuff on sprouting, using a dehydrator, a juicer etc.
" The Raw Truth" has yummy recipes , some good basic how to info as well as a glossary of fruits , veggies seeds and nuts .

Just got a new one! (My mother has an addiction to buying cook, and uncook books)
Alissa Cohen's Living on Live Food
Whole front section is info and testimonials (a lot like Shazzie's Detox Your World)
But the recipes are great! Sometimes the raw books rely on weirdo ingredients, not so in this one. Does use pine nuts alot, which is sad b/c they are so expensive. But I've been working on this vat of fetticine alfredo that is just rocking my world. Can't wait to make everything in the book.
And she has a four week plan with shopping lists and menu ideas (I LOVE shopping lists! I don't know why, I'm just a list freak!!!)

Diddo to "Living on Live Food." Great book, especially for people being introduced to a raw foods lifestyle. Lots of info on how to sprout, what nutrients are in what etc.

also... Cafe Gratitude's "I Am Grateful." Awesome recipes! I love the Hempseed Ranch. This book is as much a spiritual giude as a recipe book. Love it.
    • I love Alissa Cohen's book, too. The marinara sauce from that book is to live for!

My other all-time favorite is Gabriel Cousens' Rainbow Foods one. He gives a phased diet for ridding oneself of candida, etc. He's a medical doctor, so I tend to trust him. The recipes have not been proofread, though. It will give an instruction for adding a tomato, but there is no tomato in the list of ingredients. Or it will call for 2 TBS of sea salt but I think it should read 2 tsp because the salt is overwhelming in the recipe. So you have to be a little careful. I make notes in my book for future reference.

I have a shelf full, and the one I use most is Rawvolution by Matt Amsden. I also love Green For Life by Victoria Boutenko....the green smoothies in the morning changed my whole world from my energy level to my hair and nails. I love Gabriel Cousens Rainbow Green Live-Food Cuisine Book as well.

I confess that I work for a publisher of raw, vegan, vegetarian and alternative health books. I am vegan, trying to increase my percentage of raw food intake. A couple of months ago, I had the privilege of sampling several of author Jennifer Cornbleet's creations featured in her brand new book, Raw Easy Desserts. I was amazed at how rich and delicious they are.

This is strictly from the publishers point of view, but you may find this information to be of some interest. Our most popular raw book by far is Jennifer Cornbleet's Raw Food Made Easy (for 1 or 2 People). We believe this book has been on Amazon's list of top 100 cookbooks longer than any other raw book. (Jenny has a new book, Raw for Dessert, which was reviewed favorably in Vegan.com on August 21st.) Our second most popular raw book is The Raw Food Revolution by Cherie Soria with contributions from vegan nutritionists Brenda Davis and Vesanto Melina. Sales of this book have been rising steadily since its release last summer. Raw Gourmet by Nomi Shannon also sells well. So do Rose Callabro's Living in the Raw, Living in the Raw Desserts & Living in the Raw Gourmet, and Angela Elliott's Alive in 5. Sproutman's books, Juice Fasting, Kitchen Garden Cookbook, Wheatgrass, Sprouts, etc. are very big sellers. So are the Norman Walker books, Fresh Vegetable & Fruit Juices, Vegetarian's Guide to Diet & Salad, etc.

I've been taking some raw classes from a chef here in the Bay Area and she recommends and uses recipes from Jenny Cornbleet a lot. I got Cornbleet's book, Raw Food Made Easy. Her recipes are simple, delicious, and are aimed at one or two people. I get tired of trying to cut down on recipes for six or more. I just can't eat it all before I'm tired of it.

I like Rawsome, too, for all the nutritional info.
